AContent Road Map
The following are some the AContent development activites underway or being planned. If you are a member of the ATutor community, and would like to suggest new AContent features, suggest them in the community forums.
Early 2012
Common Cartridge 1.1 + Basic LTI
The CC 1.1, Basic LTI, and QTI implementations in ATutor will be adapted for AContent.
-
AccessForAll 2.0 Extension of CC1.1
AccessForAll adapted from ATutor.
-
IMS QTI 2.1 Upgrade
QTI 2.1 adapted from ATutor.
-
AContent Upgrade Utility
The next release being the first upgrade release, will require creating an upgrade utility for the AContent installer. The ATutor upgrade utility can be adapted for this purpose.
-
AContent Themes
In AContent 1.0 one basic theme was created, though themes as they are in ATutor remains to be implemented. A theme manager will be adapted from ATutor and added to AContent to provide users with the same control over the look and feel of the system as they have with ATutor. With this being the first implementation of themes in AContent, the Fluid Skinning System (FSS) can be integrated into themes.
-
Live Content
In AContent 1.0 content can be copied across systems in interoperable content package or common cartridge formats. The AContent Web service API will be extended to allow live rendering of content from the repository into remote systems, making it possible to create one instance of a piece of content, that when updated, cascades over all systems accessing it. The ATutor content editor will be extended to consume this Live Content, seamlessly integrating it into ATutor course content.
-
Content Licensing
As part of the Live Content implementation there is the potential to add content licensing, so authors who develop content that is not provided under an open content license, are able to maintain control over their content, and potentially provide access to it based on a licensing fee. OAuth, adopted by the CC1.0 specification to allow authenticated access to common cartridges, and currently available in AContent, will be extended to allow licensing of content.
