ATutor Google Summer of Code 2012

ATutor will be participating for our third year in Google Summer of Code along with other projects out of the Inclusive Design Institute (IDI). This year we are collaborating with several organizations, including University of Bologna in Italy, Australian National University, Blindside Networks, developers of BigBlueButton, and with Apache OpenMeetings. Students who want to participate, and get paid for a summer of coding ($5000), should start thinking about what projects they might like to do, and start preparing their proposals so they are ready when the application period comes. Visit the GSOC Site for details on applying, and see the IDI Project Ideas Page to get an idea of the types of projects available this year. Spread the word if you know a student who might like to spend the summer working with IDI on its Open Source development projects.

This is an early notice to the ATutor community, announcing that we will be introducing the ATutorSpaces course hosting service in the coming weeks. The service will provide free course hosting for personal courses, and economical pricing for those who need more than a few personal course sites. Prices will be based on the space you use, not the number of students who register in your courses. To get on the pre-launch list and be one of the first setup on the new ATutorSpaces site, use the Contact Us form to request a spot.

Google Summer of Code 2011 has been announced. The IDI, ATutor's developer, will be participating again this year. GSoC pays students $5000 US to work with open source software organisations for the summer.

If you are a student, and you are looking for work over the summer of 2011, take a look over the suggested projects for this year, and get involved with the ATutor community during the period leading up to the start of GSoC. Almost exclusively, it is students who participate in our community that are chosen to work with us.

To get started, follow the link below to the GSoC Project ideas, and there review the suggested projects, and find your way to the GSoC documentation (the FAQ in particular) for everything you need to know to get involved in the program.
