| in simple recommended systems are the association rules (datawarehousing), obtained from the users data; like what the courses he is viewing, which instructors courses he is reading and so on. so that virtual classrooms can be built suitable to his needs. these techniques are currently being employed in eCommerce. e.g. www.amazon.com By application of recommended systems, it is possible to provide each user a vitural school tailored to his needs.
