That's a big job. We are currently looking for funds to support this work. Suggestions for funding sources are welcome.

Just curious why funds are needed if this is open source.

We may provide the software for free, but we do have to pay programmers to program it.

Sorry for the confusion, but I thought you WERE the programmers or I thought the users were the programmers.

That's always been in my head when I hear open source. Programmers create software and distribute it free of charge. Then, the users may modify it to make it better but they must also have an understanding to distribute their modifications free of charge.

Most open source projects pay programmers to program. Some features are programmed by users, but most of it is done inhouse. Grants, contract work, donations, etc. keep the programmers employed.

Users often help make the software better by reporting bugs, making feature suggestions, designing themes or modules, and by translating ATutor.
