Hello,
first of all I would like to thank the ATutor Team for the great job they are doing.

I have a simple idea that would help a lot of users in their daily job in converting IMS/SCORM to pure HTML-content.

I think it must be quite easy for you to release a standalone php script (or a combination of included scripts) JUST to upload IMS/SCORM content and convert it to the regular ATutor HTML-Output...just like it appears when exporting a whole course.
Why is this interesting?
Because i.e. the Reload Editor just displays IMS/SCORM content in a temp directory.
The difference between this standalone tool is:
No login required...no need to store it in the mysql database. A user could upload i.e. a zipped package built with Reload and receives a zipped SCORM-package with the regular HTML- ATutor output.

A name for this tool might be: IMS/SCORM-HTML-converter. Only apache+php needed.
I think that such a tool would be a very good addition and should be very easy to realize for you.
Regards
Hartmut

Thanks for your suggestion, though I'm not sure how this would differ from unpacking a content package and viewing it offline.

The content of a content package from ATutor is essentially regular HTML that does not need to be viewed in ATutor itself, or in Reload.

Just unzip the package file into an empty directory, then open the index.html file in a Web browser to view the HTML files.

Thank you for your answer Greg,

the difference is:
The Reload zip-structure of the content is WITHOUT a display as HTML...ATutor IS HTML-viewable.
That's a great difference for me.

and: BECAUSE ATutor can generate this HTML-viewable content, it is very interesting.
The idea is: Why not install a little webservice (without installing the whole ATutor package with mysql and required login procedures) to UPLOAD RELOAD-content and receive HTML in the ATutor way.
That's all.
Regards
Hartmut

This sounds doable without too much effort. I'll add it to the todo list, but it may be a while before we can get to it (its a long list).

If someone else were to create such a tool, it could be available much sooner ;-)

Or, you could try suggesting an HTML wrapper utility to the Reload people. They might be receptive to such an upgrade for their software.

Either way for now, if you didn't want to install ATutor, you could import a Reload package into the instructor demo on ATutor.ca, then export the package with the ATutor content packager.
