At present each time the chat room refreshes it seems to refresh the entire page or perhaps at least the left had side of the page, including the message entry box such that the message that one is in the process of typing is also cleared by the refresh, which can be upsetting even for a fast typist.

Here is a chat script that I just wrote.

Indeed, an importnat note. It is very inconvinient for students to use a chat when everything they type gets cleared every 20 or 60 seconds.

You haven't mentioned which browser you are using but I would suspect this likely a browser's mishandling of the auto refresh preference (you know you can turn refresh off?).

It works as it should in every browser we've checked it with.

To solve problems like this we need details....

I does indeed refresh the "Compose Message" form field. This should be reported to the Bug tracking forum.

Should I still report it for bug tracking or will it be taken care in the future release without this? (In case you need browser info - it is IE 6.0 with Win XP SP1). Let me know if I should submit it to Bug tracking section.

I've recorded it in our internal bugtracker so it gets fixed for a future release, but it should be posted to the public Bug Tracker forum as well, so others that follow know it's been reported. Please do post a brief message to the Bug Tracker forum. thx
