Using ATutor 1.3:

Create a test with a one-word answer field, then (as student) fill in a very big integer number (e.g. 92709463147897837085761925410587) as an answer. After submitting this answer, the instructor magically receives a truncated (!) integer (seems to be a MAXINT value for the platform). Since the field was not explicitly declared to be numeric, I had assumed it would accept the big number as text, but some weird magic seems to interfere.

This can be a serious bug in some contexts, because it changes students' answers so that some tests which require bignums are made impossible by this bug (just happened to me).

Thanks,

Andreas Matthias

We haven't been able to reproduce the problem. We are able to enter numbers much longer than the example. The field is a text field so there should not be problem entering large numbers.

Can you provide any additional information. It difficult to investigate if we don't know what system ATutor is running on. Any additional information about default setting you may have change might also help.
