I created a new isntallation of 1.6.2 and created a course. Administrator works fine, so did instructor and student accounts. now the latter two have stopped working. I tried the reset password thing, both "lost password" and the administrator's forced password changes. Both provide confirmatory messages. Then, when attempting to follow-through with the new password, cannot login. I am aware of the misleading email message -- even tried logging in with the email address instead of the user name, no luck.

As a back-up to the primary super-administrator account, I set up another zzAdministrator super-account just in case if one fails the other should work. Cannot login with this userid either. Tried adding new userid -- nope. won't work either. Can create ID but not login.

    Things to describe:
Operating system ATutor is installed on -
    ATutor version - 1.6.2
Patch #s applied - none (How to apply?)
    ATutor theme name - 1.5
    PHP version - ? using blacksun.ca
    MySQL version - ? using blacksun.ca
    Webserver & version - apache ? using blacksun.ca
Copies of error messages - the usual logon error message
    Changes to default settings -
Web browser being used - firefox, internet explorer
    ...and anything else relevant -

I seem to have tripped into a solution. I restored the default theme and all was well. Curiously, when I re-applied the atutor 1.5 theme, the sidebar appeared on the right rather than on the left, as it did before so I just went back to the default theme where I'm at now.

    Curious.

Not sure whether this is the cure or not, but I am back and productive again...

Hi, How did you register the new account? With administrator's tool "create user"? Did admin and other accounts work fine?

I used the REGTISTER at the front end of the product.
I was able to get in. As soon as I logged out - I could not get back in.

However, I then deleted everything - including the database and reinstalled 1.6.2 and now everything seems to be working fine. I'll know more today as I move forward.

    Thank you for your time.
