| langis | Subject: Unable to access after succesful install | |
| Windows XP Home Apache 1.3.31 PHP 5.0.1 MYSQL 3.23.57 I can complete the full install, but when I try to login as the admin account, I keep getting back to the login page and ATutor does not report me as signed in. If I log in as the first account created as an instructor, I get the following message: [ Variable: error] and all the menu options are shown as [ Variable: register ] for example. The top shows: [ Variable: logged_in_as]: [ Variable: guest] [ Variable: login] I have tried deleting cookies, to no avail. Can anybody help! Posted: 2004-09-17 06:51:27 | ||

greg![]() | Subject: Unable to reproduce
| We're still unable to reproduce this problem ourselves. The fact that it is happening on two very different systems makes us think it is a valid bug. Is there any other information you could provide that might help us reproduce the problem. Detailed steps if possible... Posted: 2004-09-17 14:50:26 | ||
| langis | Subject: Corrections | |
| I mistakenly quoted my version of MySQL It should be 4.0.18 I have a similar setup at the office now and did not encounter this problem. I do however problems importing the French Language file. Posted: 2004-09-17 15:38:00 | ||

greg![]() | Subject: Can't reproduce
| We are still unable to reproduce the login problem. Login works fine on all our windows systems, and there are many others out there using windows systems who have not experienced any problems. If someone figures it out, please post your solution here. I suspect it's a windows setting. Are there any default windows settings you may have changed that could be causing the problem? Do you have cookie enabled in your browser? Is php safemode turned off? Did the include/config.inc.php file get written properly at the end of the install process? What do you mean by "can't simply login"? What happens when you try to login? Is there an error message? Posted: 2004-10-16 10:14:16 | ||
| lemonfanta | Subject: Login problems | |
| It is very strange because on my PC I installed Moodle, PhpNuke, PhpBB, and all is working well, at first try. When I put a correct username/password ATutor simply give me back the login page. In the upper right corner appears 'you are logged in as Guest', as before. No error message. If i put a wrong user/pass combination ATutor gives me the error 'invalid username password'. I tried to check cookie settings but i enabled all cookies and nothing changed. I don't figure out what Windows 2000 setting can give such a behaviour. The config.inc.php is properly written. I don't know how to check the php safemode setting ...can you tell me how? Ciao Oscar Posted: 2004-10-18 05:32:46 | ||
| langis | Subject: Login Problem | |
| I can assure you all the same things that Oscar mentioned in his last e-mail are the same for me, plus the PHP.INI setting on my setup shows that safe_mode = off. Posted: 2004-10-18 06:13:07 | ||
greg![]() | Subject: Windows related
| The only time we've been able to duplicate this is with cookies turned off. We've tested on (98/2000/XP). There has been no such reports from Unix users. I know there are many Windows installations of ATutor out there, which have not experienced this problem, so I can only assume there is something about your particular systems that's the problem. I'm assuming you're all using Internet Explorer. What version? Perhaps it is a browser issue. Since we are unable to reproduce the problem ourselves, and can see nothing in the code that might cause the problem, we are going to have to rely on users like yourselves to figure it out. If you do solve the problem, let us know so we can apply the fix or workaround to the source code, or perhaps make others aware of system settings that may be at fault. If all else fails, try installing on a Linux system ;-) Posted: 2004-10-18 16:58:49 | ||
| roustam | Subject: Windows related | |
| ATutor works now. The Problem was permitted as follows. Has Installed the version PHP4 4.3.9. In Apache/conf/http.conf has deleted the line: LoadModule php4_module d:/usr/local/php4/sapi/php4apache.dll. Only this! Probably something in installation PHP4. Thank You for answers. We Begin to study ATutor Posted: 2004-10-21 08:13:55 | ||
| lemonfanta | Subject: Gotcha | |
| I solved the problem. Check the session_path directory in the PHP.ini file, and if it is wrong or commented out give a proper path.... you will see Ciao Oscar Posted: 2004-10-21 12:48:08 | ||
