Subject: Error when restoring backupQuote this post in your reply
I encountered this error when I tried to restore a backed-up course:
Error * You did not select a file to upload.

A search in the atutor support forums suggested:
possibly permissions or file sizes too big.

I ruled out both: I changed permissions using
"chmod -R a+rwx content", and the sample course is 4 KB small.

Then, I figured it out, and it was very strange: it had to do with the course name. The name is "Sustainable Tourism (Demo)".

Let me go back a step. When I backed up the course, the backup changed it to backup_export.ZIP, and no error message. I found it strange but since there was no warning or error, I guess it went fine.

But when I go to restore it, I got the error.

With the exact course, I changed the name to "Sustainable Tourism", and backed it up. The restore then works.

I tried the same with the course "Researching Marginalized & Disadvantaged Learners". The restore does NOT work with the same error message.

But when I change the name to "Researching Marginalized", it works.

I think this might explain what other people have complained in this forum about unable to back up with that nastry error message.

IA bug is there. If the title is not OK (too long or contains unsupported characters), fine, change it to whatever, but the backed up file HAS to work.

I've reproduced the problem and added it to the bug tracker. Seems to be having trouble with special characters.
thx
