If you are preparing to take the LSAT, you are already familiar with how extensive assessment tests have been in the past and can have a pretty good idea about how long the LSAT is. Test-takers should expect to take the same amount of time to finish the LSAT. The LSAT is 3 hours and 30 minutes long. That may seem like a very long time, but once you see how the test is split up, it will be over before you even realize it.
Length in Sections
The 100 questions are split up into five different sections. Those sections include two logical reasoning sections, one logic games section, one reading comprehension section, and an experimental section. Each section lasts about 30 to 35 minutes, depending on how fast you answer your questions. There is one 15-minute break and a one-minute break between the rest of the sections.
Tips to Utilize Your Time
The scheduled time for each section doesn’t have to be intimidating with a few tips. Take a few practice tests and start studying at least 6 months before the LSAT test day. Practice tests give you a chance to see which areas are your weaknesses. Knowing what slows you down will help you to focus on studying your challenging sections more. That way, you can diminish the opportunities of getting stuck during the test.
If you do get stuck, remember that it is okay to move on. It’s also important not to let time rush you. Make sure to take some time to read through the question and understand it before you answer. You don’t want to risk getting a question wrong due to simply glancing at the question. It’s better to take your time.
